Physician associates are healthcare professionals with a generalist medical education who work alongside doctors providing medical care as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team. Physician associates work under the supervision of a doctor but can work autonomously with appropriate support. Physician associates take medical histories, perform examinations, develop differential diagnoses, analyse test results, develop management plans and refer patients as required.
